Why a blog?

Let me first start by saying this. God has led me on the most incredible journey of my life. The more I listen to His voice and am obedient the more that I learn about Who He is and what His Word says. I am far from being perfect or even thinking that I am. It is the exact opposite. The more I dig into the Scriptures the more I truly realize how little I know and how much I am desperate in need of a Savior. I am so grateful everyday that I serve a merciful God that gave His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for my sin and be my Savior. To be Savior to a world that so desperately needs Him.

I am starting this blog because I believe that one of the most important thing that a believer in Jesus Christ can do is read their Bible and understand what it says. Five short years ago, I walked into a church and sat down at a table with a whole bunch of ladies that I did not know and had my first Bible Study lesson. At first it was hard and took a lot of work and effort on my part to stay committed. I am so thankful I did! It wasn’t all my doing though, the Holy Spirit led me and those ladies help guide me in the Word of God to discover the truth for myself. To discover the truth of God’s Word for oneself, in my opinion, is the best way to read God’s Word. That is what I would like to do. Help other’s discover Truth for themselves.

I want to make it perfectly clear that I am no Scholar of Theology or Doctrin but I love Jesus and the more I learn about God through His Word the more He shows Himself to me and the more His Word becomes alive in my life. I want everyone to discover that. The Bible is as relevant today as it was so many centuries ago. What we have done is taken our lives and then tried to apply or make relevant the Bible.  What we should do is take the Bible and what it says and apply it to our lives, it already is relevant. Make sense?

My prayer for anyone who may read this:

Father God, I pray that your people discover Your truth in the only book that governments cannot silence or man cannot destroy, Your Word. That the love and peace of Christ penetrates their hearts and minds. That the knowledge and truths that You show them does not make them think more of themselves as the wise think of themselves but that they realize how much we really do not know. May the Words of Your Son, Jesus, guide them and transform their lives into shining lamps so full of light that the world wants to know what they have. May we keep our eyes and thoughts on heavenly things and remember that our Lord Jesus will return. In Jesus name. Amen.

“In regard to this Great Book, I have but to say, it is the best gift God has given to man. All the good the Savior gave to the world was communicated through this book. But for it we could not know right from wrong. All things most desirable for man’s welfare, here and hereafter, are to be found portrayed in it.”              Abraham Lincoln
